Hauntology – “Students introduced to the concept of Hauntology, locating and looking at the social, political conditions that produced it. Technology – temporality – reshaping of cultural analysis. The lecture examines its influence using current analysis of approaches to contemporary practice and culture.” It is an interesting concept : there’s actually an artistic theory /concept for that feeling of deja vu, old-time but new, the slightly unsettling retro look and feel of “temporal disjunctions”, and nostalgia for a lost future – think of Stranger Things on Netflix, or Twin Peaks from back in the day … It was quite difficult to get my head around it but it IS logical.
